Pickin' Blueberries

Today we went with our friend Sarah and Jennifer to pick blueberries.  The girls were really looking forward to this outing and I was too.  I just love feeling like we are out in the country even though we live in a big city.

We arrived to find a little house with parking out front and the sweetest old ladies there to greet us.  After getting our buckets one of the women told the kids about their 3 rules.

1) No screaming
2) Stay out of the vegetable garden
3) Come back with a blue tongue (meaning they should taste lots and lots of berries while picking)

Handley took the rules very seriously and kept asking me if her tongue was blue yet. :-)

Harper doesn't like blueberries (or at least she doesn't know if she likes them or not because she is too chicken to try them).  She kept saying over and over on our way there that she didn't like to eat blueberries she told us she would pick them for the rest of us though.  She was really into picking (more so than Handley) and loved every minute.

Despite the heat, it was a great morning and such fun activity with the girls. Not only did they get to see all of the blueberry bushes, but they also saw squash, beans, and corn growing in the vegetable gardens which they were completely fascinated by.  I love exposing them to new environments and I feel like all of these little outings we take are helping to educate and expose them to the world we live in.  We picked a total of 1.25 lbs. of blueberries which only cost us $2.50.

If anyone is interested in visiting their address is 1055 Jones Rd. in Roswell.  The sign I saw said they were open at 8 AM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

ok, now that sounds like an outing we would LOVE. Except the No Screaming rule would give me anxiety because the Bosser loves to get his scream on from time to time!

All of the pictures look like they belong in a blueberry catalog!
