Last Weekend

We're having a great weekend so far, but I'm just now getting around to blogging about our fun last weekend!  We kicked it off Friday night when Trey, Stefanie and they kids came over. We walked up to dinner...

And then came home and played outside. The guys played baseball for a long time. Then we had ice cream cake and celebrated Robby's birthday!

Saturday was a day filled with games.  All three of the kids are doing great and loving their sports.  This was Harper's first game with the Jr. Academy and she did amazing! She's learned a lot and I love watching her out there!

Hudson continues to love playing baseball and is really getting into the game.  He loves when he gets to play catcher with all of the gear or the pitcher position because the kids wear a mask for that, too!

Handley's game was far away last week, so Harper and I went while the guys stayed home. She cheered wonderful though and their squad looks so good!

On Sunday after church we loaded up and headed to the Chattahoochee River trail.  It's only minutes away from our house and great for walking, running or riding bikes.  All three kids rode their bikes!

Then we stopped and let Walker cool off in the river. At first he was hesitant to get in, but after we found an easier entry spot he loved it and spotted the ducks!

The weeks are filled with us running around and going from one place to the next, but I love anytime that we have at home and when we are home Hudson is begging for someone to play baseball with him.

I absolutely love this stage.  We're busy, but it's a great kind of busy doing the things the kids love so I'm happy to be the one driving them to and fro and all over town!

Hudson's First Baseball Game

Hudson has been waiting on this day for a while now and the night was finally here...his very first baseball game!!!!

I got there about half-way through because I was at soccer with Harper, but he was so excited to see us when we arrived and was waving proudly from the field.

At his age it is coach pitch at first and if they don't hit after the first 4 pitches they put the tee out for them to hit off of.  The first time at bat he ended up hitting off the tee and the second time he got a hit from a pitch! Actually first he hit a ball that was a pop-up foul ball and then he got a hit.

He played the pitcher position a few innings and said he loved that part best.  The person in that position wears a mask to protect themselves from a line drive and he said that is why he liked that position.  Because he got to wear a mask and wear his hat backwards.

After the game they all loved the snacks and then their coach gave out the game ball and Hudson got it!  His coach said it was because he did great fielding balls and throwing to first base.  He was SO proud and so were we!

When we got home he wanted to put it on the shelf in his room. He put it up high because he said he wanted all of his friends to be able to see it when they come over. :-)

Labor Day Weekend

Our Labor Day weekend, was a much needed 3-day break from school.  The kids loved having time at home to just play and enjoy.  We also got a lot accomplished and although it would have been more fun to be away for the weekend, we took advantage of being home. We did lots of things like get new tires on my car and clean out some things from the garage. You know, the necessary things that aren't fun, but good to get checked off the list.

On Friday night the girls and I went to the high school football game. The youth cheerleaders and football players were able to go on the field before the game started as the high school players ran on the field.  After Handley loved seeing the high school cheerleaders and both girls were excited to spend some time with their friends in the stands.

Saturday Robby and I were able to go to the UGA game at the Dome.  The kids were excited for football season and decked out in their red and black.  We had a lot of fun at the game and can't wait to take the kids to a game soon!

We spent the next two days shopping for a new mattress.  You know what is pretty awkward and funny and just weird all at the same time...testing out a new mattress.  You want to lay down and see what it will feel like, but I couldn't stop laughing as the sales people would try to give us their best pitch as we were laying there.  The kids thought it was a playground and had no problem testing them out.  We had fun with it though and ended up with a new one so hoping our backs will feel much better on this new and improved model.

And last, but not least, we visited our favorite discount store to buy some new sheets for our new bed and while we were doing that the kids were on a treasure hunt. Years ago they started finding the plastic size markers that would fall off the hangers and be under the racks.  They called them treasures and started collecting.  Well now every time we go in a store they want to know if it has "treasures."  They crack me up and get so excited about finding them and adding to their collection!

Key West Getaway

Two weeks ago Robby and I got to sneak away to Key West for a little getaway and had the best time.  Despite the threat of bad weather, we ended up having lots of sunshine!

When you arrive in Key West, you walk off the plane down some stairs and right onto the tarmac.  This always seems a little odd to me, but we were immediately hit with the hot and humid Florida Keys weather.  I also loved seeing these fun statues as we enter the airport.  I swear they look like real people up there!

We arrived at the house we were going to be staying at and were welcomed by the gorgeous tropical plants.  Seriously so inviting!

We spent most of our days on the boat.  The group we were with has a brand new fancy boat that is great for fishing, diving, snorkeling and lobstering.  The water was a little more rough than in years past when we have visited, but still gorgeous blue water and lots of fun fish to see.

We also spent a lot of time catching lobster!  I actually didn't catch any, but I watched how the process went and it was fascinating.  Those little guys are fast so you have to know what you are doing.  They have to be a certain size to be able to keep them, so I learned lots about how that all works.

The guys found plenty and it was definitely a successful part of our trip.  Everyone got to bring some home, so I'm on the lookout for awesome lobster recipes if anyone has some to share!

I mentioned that I didn't catch any lobster, but I did want to hold on for a picture. I was terrified the thing would wiggle out of my hands, but I put on a glove and just went for it.

I probably gained weight on our trip, because we ate so well each night.  Lots of yummy seafood restaurants to try and so much Key Lime pie!!!! On this night we ate by the water and had such beautiful views of the sunset.

I'm always tickled to see the roosters running around the island.  We sat outside for dinner and when I looked over this guy was just hanging out.  They don't bother anyone (except when they start to crow at the crack of dawn), but I don't know if I'd ever get used to seeing them just walking about everywhere all over the island.

On our last day we went to a few more snorkeling spots and the water was kind of rough.  I wanted to see some of the huge coral heads though, so I stepped out of my comfort zone and I'm so glad I did. We saw some really pretty fish (one that looked like Dory!), a sting ray, barracuda (that made me a little nervous) and more lobster.

It was a great trip and lots of fun, but I was excited to come home and see the kiddos!  It's hard being away while they have school, homework, tests, sports practices and games.  All of these things are kept in my brain, but when I write it down for someone else to be in charge of it seems overwhelming!  They were in great hands though and had a fun weekend, too.  :-)  I hated to miss Handley's first game, but was happy to get some pics over the weekend and I know she had fun cheering!
