It's just been one big party around here this weekend. After our friends left on Saturday morning we did have some downtime, but Saturday evening we loaded up and made our way to Stone Mountain Park for the laser show and fireworks. Gigi and Papa met us there and it was such a fun night.
I remember going to the laser show as a kid and there being lots of room on the lawn to spread out your blanket, have kids run around, and enjoy the evening. That was NOT the case last night. There was not an inch of grass left by the time the show started and it was a massive sea of people. You would think being very pregnant, surrounded by what felt like a million people, having to walk a mile to and from our parking spot, and because of poor planning on my part, not having a stroller with us, that the evening would have been less than enjoyable. However, it was SO much fun and the perfect way to start off our 4th of July festivities.
The laser show didn't even start until 9:30 (way past bedtime) so I wasn't sure how the girls would do, but they were both really good and had a blast. After eating our picnic dinner we enjoyed dip-n-dots and watched the girls danced around with their glow necklaces. We all enjoyed the show followed by the most spectacular fireworks display I've ever seen. We kept talking to Handley about this being a celebration for America's birthday and when we were walking back to the car she asked, "Why are we leaving America?" I need to pull out a map and try to explain things a little better for her.
Since we got home VERY late last night the girls and I slept in this morning to try to catch up on some much needed rest. Robby got up bright and early to go golfing though. This afternoon we had some friends over to continue the celebrations. We spent some time at the pool and then came back to our house to grill out, play some corn hole, and enjoy some time outdoors.

Harper and "Baby Will." She LOVES him and was being so sweet with him. |
Before putting the girls to bed we set off a few fireworks and lit some sparklers Bryce and Sarah had brought over.
I keep thinking the girls will hit a wall any day now after all of the fun we've been having for the past few days, but so far they are going strong and I think we can make it through one more big day tomorrow before we get back to our regular routine.
