Night Swimming

We had a very rainy start to day one of our vacation and although the kids were begging us to head out to the beach we stayed in and killed the time hoping for sunny weather.  We are staying in a condo at the beach with my family for the week and the kids have been pumped for the beach.  It cleared around lunchtime so we all made our way outside only to have it start raining again.  As luck would have it, as soon as we had given up on our beach day and gotten dressed, the sun came out and it turned out to be a great afternoon.  We threw on our suits and rushed out to the beach and the kids were beyond excited.  They loved the sand, they loved the surf and we all loved the sun!

This evening we took the kids to visit my grandmother.  All of her friends in the nursing home were also happy to see us coming with the kids.  It took Hudson a few minutes to warm up, but then he was hamming it up and giving everyone hugs goodbye.  The girls were just as sweet and it does my heart good to see them getting to spend time with someone as special to me as my Memaw.

After dinner the kids had a dance party on the porch and then we decided to let them stay up for night swimming, which was definitely the highlight of the day.  As a kid I remember LOVING swimming at night and how much fun it was.  They thought it was so neat to swim in the pool with the lights shining in the water.  Needless to say they all fell right asleep tonight and I think for sure day 1 of our vacation ended on a much better note than how it started.
