On Saturday we made our way to a nearby park with a waterfall and a place called the Stumphouse Tunnel. This project was started in 1852 and was originally going to be a tunnel through a mountain for a railroad, but due to lack of funds the project was never completed. It's an interesting place to visit though and we had fun walking into the dark, cave-like tunnel using our iPhone flashlight apps to help us see.
Getting ready to head into the tunnel |
The waterfall overlook area was gorgeous to see with all of the fall leaves.
The girls loved collecting rocks and leaves during our adventure. In fact, I just found some remnants of the leaves stuck in the washing machine that were stuffed in Harper's pockets and while hanging up Handley's jackets I discovered several big rocks. After exploring around a bit we had a picnic lunch and then headed back to the house for naps and to watch football.
Hudson and Parker...can't wait for these two to really start playing together. |
Today we made a detour on our way home to stop by Gigi and Papa's house for one last birthday dinner celebration. A big thanks to everyone for helping me celebrate my birthday.

Wow, what a beautiful time to be at the lake. Happy Birthday!
Hope you had a great birthday! We went to that same place earlier this year. We will have to meet up sometime when your close by:)
Dang if Hudson just hasn't grown up on us. Goodness gracious, he went from newborn to baby in a flash. Seems like the third kids grow up faster than the first two, doesn't it?
So glad you had such a great birthday.
Glad your birthday weekend was a good one! We miss you girls (and boy)!
