Weekend Sports Begin!

We had a fun weekend that really kicked off Thursday evening.  After dance for the girls we went to Gigi and Papa's house for dinner and then by the school to see the administration.  They were camping out on the ROOF of the school...all because the kids got pledges from all 50 states for their Boosterthon Fun Run.  They couldn't believe they were up there in tents.  I couldn't believe they were still there the next morning when I drove up to drop them off, but they were. :-)

Friday night Harper got to go to a fun birthday party and sleepover and while she was at that the rest of us made our way to the Walton Varisty home opener.  Handley got to go on the field before the game and she was so excited.  She loved getting to see Olivia and all of the other high school cheerleaders.  We stayed until just after half-time and had such a great time!

Saturday morning was Handley's first game.  She is cheering for the 5th grade team this year, and they are good!  We won the game and the girls all had fun cheering on the team to a victory.

While I was at the game with Handley, Hudson was at his first soccer practice.  He has been so excited about finally being on a team and apparently he did really well at practice.  I can't wait for his games to start in a few weeks because I know he's going to do great.

Saturday night we walked up to Moxie Burger for dinner and then Sunday was church, grocery shopping and Jen and Justen's gender reveal party!  We were all team blue, but we were so wrong!  They are having a girl and we couldn't be more excited. :-)

Boosterthon 2015

Today was the Boosterthon Fun Run at the girls' school.  It's our biggest fundraiser and is a ton of fun for all of the kids.  They work to get pledges for all of the laps they will run and leading up to the run their classes attend pep rally and learn about character-building experiences.

Parents and families are invited to watch the kids run and the Boosterthon team does a great job to make running the laps fun for the kids.  There is music, themed laps, and a positive vibe that is super fun for the kids.

Each class gets introduced and runs through the tunnel as everyone cheers.

After all of the classes are introduced the administration arrived in style!

Hudson loved cheering and can't wait for his turn to run in the fun run.

The goal is for each child to run 30-35 laps and the girls both exceeded that goal!

After the Kindergarten/1st grade run the classes joined back together and enjoyed popsicles to help cool off.

Then it was time for the 3rd grade fun run.  These two sweet girls are the best of friends and I just love seeing their sweet friendship develop over time.

Handley also had a blast and ran over 35 laps and loved the fun time with her classmates!

We've had a whirlwind of a few weeks.  I knew starting back to school would be a busy time and it has proven to be just that.  Between homework, projects, sports and extra curricular activities, it leaves us very little time for anything else.

On top of all of that, we have also been busy packing up and moving out of our lake house.  It's bitter sweet for us to say goodbye to a house that has been SO much fun for our family and friends over the past 8 years, but it's time for us to close that chapter and move on to more fun adventures.  Yesterday while we were moving out, Gigi offered to keep the kids.  They had WAY more fun than us and went to the Touch-a-Truck event at a park in Alpharetta.  Think about any kind of truck or vehicle and it was there - pink limousine, fire truck, ambulance, helicopter - you name it and it was there.

I loved seeing the pictures from their fun day and hearing all about it.  They begged me to see when the event might be happening again so they could go experience the fun another time.

Hudson's First Day of School

Yesterday was Hudson's first day of school!  Last week when the girls started, he was confused why he didn't get to head back, too. I was happy to have him home with me for just one more week though.

Last Friday we met his teachers and he got to see his classroom.  His teachers seem really great!  I'm so excited about this year for him and I know he will learn a lot.

We were both excited to learn that his best buddy from his class last year was going to be in his class again.  They get along really well and love playing together. After meeting the teacher the ice cream truck was at the school, so we made a stop there.

Yesterday he woke up excited, but a little nervous.  He had the same teachers for two years in a row, so entering a new class with new teachers must have been a little intimidating for him.

However, when we got there he hung his bag up, put his folder away, and then he and his friend walked right into the room without looking back.  He got right to work and I couldn't believe how big my baby looked in that classroom.

When I pick him up he was so excited to tell me all about how wonderful his day was and how much fun he had.  While I'm sad to think about him growing up, I'm happy that he is so confident and independent.    I was so proud of how well he did today!

First Day of School

I can hardly believe that we are half-way through our first week of school!  The girls had a great first day back and were both really excited.  So excited that they had trouble getting to sleep on Sunday night, but I remember I used to be the very same way.

We all woke up bright and early to get ready. Our bus time comes super early (6:52 AM!!!) so it is just getting light when we are heading that way.  The girls like the bus, but I might end up taking them some in the morning if it meant we could sleep 30 minutes more.

The night before school started they had picked out their outfits to wear and do their nails.  Obviously that meant painting them to match!

I wasn't expecting to get teary when they got on the bus, but I did.  I just love having them home for the summer with me and even though they argue with each other and make me want to pull my hair out sometimes, I still miss them when they are gone.  I think the hardest part is sending them off and then waiting over 7 hours to see them again and hear about how their days went.  Thankfully I know they are on the bus with our neighbors and friends so they all have each other!

Thankfully, they both got off the bus all smiles and said they had great days.  Handley loves her teacher and has her best friend in her class, which definitely helped ease first day jitters.  She's also been telling me about some other sweet girls she has become friends with.  Harper loves her teacher and is slowing meeting some new friends.  She didn't have any girls in her class that she knew, but each day she has come home telling me about someone new, so I know it's only a matter of time before she will have some close friends in her class, too.

I'm excited for this school year. I can't really believe I have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader, but I know they will both do wonderful!
