Easter 2016

How is it already Thursday? These days and weeks are just flying by and I can't believe the next weekend is almost here!

Last weekend we had a wonderful Easter.  The weather was cooler and misty/rainy all day, so not the best weather, but we still had fun.

Leading up to Easter I made our favorite treats and also put out my absolute favorite front door decorations...my bunny wreaths!  I'm sad Easter was so early this year because I didn't get to enjoy them out there for very long.

Easter Sunday we woke up early and went to the early service at church.  We got there in time to stop a snap a quick picture in the courtyard.  Sadly we didn't get a family pic, but the kids sure did look cute!

Later that afternoon we went over to Gigi and Papa's house.  The kids were SO excited to hunt for eggs.  Because of the weather they had to hide them inside this year, but that didn't matter to the kids. They still ran around and had fun collecting them all.

Handley found so many she had to trade her bucket for a bigger basket that was laying around in Gigi's basement!

We enjoyed a wonderful meal and then ate this cute bunny brownie cake!

It was a special day spent with family and we couldn't have asked for a better Easter Sunday!

We cleaned out a closet while we were at Gigi and Papa's house and I came across this pink depression glass.  My grandmother gave it to me shortly after we were married and it used to belong to her.  It had been packed away in one of our moves and I couldn't believe that I had forgotten about it. It was such a forgotten treasure to stumble across and the timing couldn't be more perfect.  I am having Harper's birthday party this weekend I know that the little girls will feel so grown up and fancy using this!  I used to eat off it as a little girl and think the same thing.  :-)

And Monday it was back at it with our regular routine.  I always love picking this guy up from school and seeing the big smile on his face!

Getting Ready for Easter

This week we've been all about getting ready for Easter!  On Thursday Gigi got to show up as the mystery reader in Hudson's class.  He had mentioned he would love for her to come read to his class and we were able to work it out for her to come this week while they are in town. He was SO excited and surprised. I think it absolutely made both of their days!

While they were having a big time together I was at Harper's class helping her teacher hide Easter Eggs. I love that she has a teacher who incorporates some fun stuff in to all of the rigorous school work that is expected of kids these days.  They are still little kids and like to have fun!  They were all so excited about their egg hunt and I was so happy I could be there to watch and help.

Hudson's class also had an egg hunt that afternoon and he came home so excited about finding a golden egg and just could not wait to dig in and see all of his treats.

Sadly, Harper got sick last night and had to miss school today, but the good news is it seemed to be quick lived and everyone else seems still happy and healthy!

This afternoon we dyed Easter Eggs and the kids loved it.  I have gotten out of doing this for the past few years because Gigi has always done it with the kids, but we couldn't let Easter come and go without this fun tradition so we got right to it today when Handley got home from school.

Bowling & Hawks Game

Does anyone else feel like they live for the weekends?  Our weeks are busy, busy and filled with homework, after school activities and just life.  But the weekends, those are the best and when most of the fun happens!

Last weekend was an especially fun and busy one.  It started off with Jen and I meeting for lunch to have a belated birthday lunch for her.  It was such a pretty day and we enjoyed sitting outdoors and catching up.

Friday night we met up with our dinner club friends for an adult night on the town.  We had dinner and went bowling!  It was SO much fun. The girls and I were all laughing about our awesome bowling shoes.

I can't remember the last time I went bowling, but it really was a fun night full of laughter.

Saturday was filled with soccer games and yard work, then we got ready for the Hawk's game.  We were in a suite, which makes it so nice for the kids to be able to run around if they can't sit the whole time (Hudson) and eat as much popcorn as they could possibly want!

The 3D projection that takes place on the court before the game starts is so cool to watch and one of my favorite things about the Hawk's games!

Between the countless times I got up to fill up popcorn cups, the kids took turns sitting with me to cheer on our team.

It was a close game the whole time and towards the end of the game the Hawk's were approaching 100 points, which we thought was so much fun!

Then they scored 100 points and the girl and I were so impressed!  That is a lot of baskets!

Originally we were not planning to stay for the whole game since it didn't even start until 7:30, but the kids were doing great and having a blast so we stayed.  The final score was 109 - 97, so we won!  Everyone crashed as soon as we got in the car and slept in nice and late the next morning, which was what we all needed!

Orlando Trip {Day 3}

On our last day in Orlando got off to a mid-morning start.  With the busy day before and the time change over night, we all needed just a little bit of extra time to sleep.  We were not at the park when they opened, but we did still have a good amount of time for our last day.  Before taking the shuttle to the park though, we ate a good breakfast to get us going and the kids wanted their picture taken in these chairs at the hotel.  They called them the king and queen chairs and they really did look like thrones.

Every time we have been to Disney we always go to Magic Kingdom, so we decided that for our last day we would visit Hollywood Studios for the first time.  Upon arrival we saw some familiar faces!

The girls and Robby went off to ride a roller coaster, but Hudson wasn't tall enough so he and I rode a movie ride instead.  Then we had a little bit of time before our next fast pass so we made our way over to the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" play zone. The kids had THE best time here and we had to make them leave when it was time to go to the next ride. I totally figures because basically it was just a giant playground that looked like the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids set.  They loved it, though!

For our last ride we did the Star Tours 3D "ride."  It was really cool and lots of fun!

Next we were ready for some lunch so we walked to the restaurant that was right across from where we were and little did we know we were about to have a really cool dining experience.  The place was set up like a 1950's drive-in theater and the kids loved it. They were playing cartoons the whole time and every table looked like an old car.

And outside they wanted a picture made in the car as we left, too.  And sadly then it was time for us to leave.  There was a lot of things we did not get to see or do, but we did love getting to check out a different park.  The kids were sad to have to go, but we needed to make it to the airport in time for our flight.

On the plane ride home we chatted about all of the fun we had. It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but we really had the best time and loved every minute of our time together on our get-away!
